The ESG, in collaboration with Leisure Cinemas Ltd, is pleased to confirm that the world’s first major documentary about the devastating effects of over fishing, called End of the Line will be shown at Kings Bastion this week. With this first screening already sold out it is expected that further screenings will be offered to the public.

The film is the first major feature of its kind revealing the impact of over fishing on our oceans and our love affair with fish as food. It asks us to imagine an ocean without fish…our meals without seafood and the global consequences if we do not stop, think and act. The film points to solutions that are simple and do-able, but require political will and activism to solve this international problem.

Filmed over two years, the End of the Line follows the investigative reporter Charles Clover as he confronts politicians and celebrity restaurateurs who exhibit little regard for the damage they are doing to the oceans. Filmed across the world – from the Strait of Gibraltar to the coasts of Senegal and Alaska to the Tokyo fish market – featuring top scientists, indigenous fishermen and fisheries enforcement officials, The End of the Line is a wake-up call to the world.

A Gibraltarian, Ana Garcia, was involved in researching regional material for the film.

It is hoped that films such as the End of the Line will become a regular feature at our local cinema.
