Last weeks seminar organised by the Ministry for the Environment was a most welcome public step in demonstrating how the Environmental Charter is more than just a list of promises on green measures.

While welcoming this step, the ESG would also like to see the production and publication of an action plan outlining the goals Government hopes to meet within calculated timeframes to attain the main objectives behind the Environmental Charter.

Last week’s seminar focused on the public’s right to information on the environment and addressed mainly Government officials. The ESG expects Government to also host open seminars on all environmental developments to provide access of such information to all interested stakeholders for true public participation in the process of its policy development on the environment.

.The ESG also requests that Government make public all literature and slides presented at last weeks’ seminar which focused on the public’s right to information on the environment.
